Branson Gospel Music Convention Announces Addition of The Paynes to Performance Schedule
BRANSON, Mo. – In their only major concert appearance since their reunion concert in 2000, The Paynes will be appearing at the inaugural Branson Gospel Music Convention next summer. Fan favorites during the 1980’s and 1990’s, The Paynes rose through the Southern Gospel ranks because of their talent, their love for God and Mike Payne’s gift of songwriting. While starting out writing such favorites as “God Delivers Again” and “That Same Spirit”, Mike soon became one of Southern Gospel’s most notable songwriters. During his career, Mike penned or co-wrote songs that are now standards in Southern Gospel music. Mike’s song catalog includes “Ready or Not”, “Out Of This World”, “Come On Over”, “I’m A Jesus Fan”, “The Conversation” and many more. Mike partnered with songwriting great Ronny Hinson to pen the classic “When He Was On The Cross I Was On His Mind”. In 1990, Mike announced his calling to preach and The Paynes disbanded. They reunited only once for a reunion concert in 2000. The appearance of The Paynes at the Branson Gospel Music Convention will no doubt bring fans from all over the United States that have missed their energetic style and spiritual anointing on stage. “We’re very excited to have such a rich part of Southern Gospel history join us at this convention. The Paynes have blessed hearts and shared so much joy through the years, and we look forward to bringing them to the beautiful Branson Convention Center,” said Kelly Burton, Director of Media Relations for YMR Music Productions.
Plans were announced last month for the annual event in the heartland of America. The Branson Gospel Music Convention will be held July 14-17, 2009 at the Branson Convention Center in Branson, Missouri.

Anticipation and Expectations High for New Ministry Oriented Single by The Glovers “Mercy Came Down” Set to Be The Glovers’ Career Song HOPKINSVILLE, Ky. – Expectations and anticipation is at an all time high by fans and radio personnel for the new single released by one of Southern Gospel’s favorite families. The Glovers’ new single release, “Mercy Came Down”, has received an unprecedented amount of support from radio stations and fans alike. Adam Glover of The Glovers said, “We can’t believe how much response we have gotten from this song in the short amount of time that the song has been out. People are truly seeing the message behind this song. It’s totally awesome to see how God can work through one song.” “Mercy Came Down” was written by Del Way and is found on the group’s latest recording – One Good Reason.
The lyrics for the touching song are as follows: “From the bottom of desperate, no hope could be found. When I had no answers, Mercy Came Down.”
Adam continued, “This song is an incredibly worded picture of the deadly grasp of sin and God’s even stronger grip of mercy.” “Mercy Came Down” was released to radio last month through Family Music Group. The song can be found on Family Music Group Radio Compilation, Vol. 45 – cut #1. For more information on the new song and testimonies regarding the impact it is having, visit The Glovers’ website and sign up for their newsletter. “Mercy Came Down” is also currently streaming on the group’s MySpace. Earlier this year, the Glovers expanded their ministry to include speaking engagements at not only men’s, women’s and couple’s events, but specifically to Pregnancy Crisis Center events across the country. The Glover’s offer a unique experience by tying their songs such as, “Hurtin People,” “Hidden Secrets,” and “Saving My Life” (specifically about abortion) in with their speaking engagements to lift individuals (especially in the church) out of their darkness and into the healing hands of Jesus. For more information regarding The Glovers’ ministry surrounding abortion and God’s hope to those affected by it – visit their site at http://www.thegloversonline.com. Dear Media Friends… We received the following information from Brothers Forever earlier this week. We agree with the group that this is information that is absolutely crucial to individuals who travel on a bus. We would like you to share this story with as many people as you possibly can. Curtis Hagy of Brothers Forever is also very open to sharing the story in any interviews, live broadcasts, etc. that you would have. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and getting the word out if you can! Here’s a direct quote from Hagy: “We really want to get radio stations and the whole gospel music community involved so that they can let their listeners and friends know that they need to get protected. Carbon Monoxide is odorless, colorless and tasteless. You don’t even know when you are exposed until you show the symptoms. We had no way of knowing. We are just thankful to be alive! Everyone that has a bus, gas logs in their homes, kerosene heaters, etc… needs a detector” -------------------------------------- By Brothers Forever’s Gary Ballew This past weekend, we went to North Carolina to sing and had no idea what was ahead for all of us. We all went to sleep Saturday night, and at 4:00 a.m., my daughter Alexis woke up with nausea and had to throw up. She tried to wake up her mother who wouldn’t wake up at first. Then my wife got up and passed out on the floor. I heard Amy, Curtis’ wife, scream out “Cyndi has passed out!” That woke me up out of a dead sleep. I panicked, jumped out of my bunk, and picked Cyndi up. We walked down the aisle, and she passed out again! At this point, I was really scared. Everyone started complaining of massive headaches and nausea. We got fresh air and aired out the bus, and we all started to feel a little better. At about 9:00 a.m., an EMT from the church we were at looked Cyndi over and said she needed to go to the emergency room immediately. I missed the concert at the church and took Cyndi and my daughter Alexis to the ER at the hospital. After taking EKGs and many lab and blood tests with 100% pure oxygen for an hour and a half, the doctor concluded that they had carbon monoxide poisoning. They gauge carbon monoxide poisoning on a scale of 1-15 - 15 being the highest at death. Cyndi, after five hours of treatment, was at a level 8.7, and Lexi was at a 6.1. We didn’t even realize how close to death all of us were. The doctor stated, “Your family is very blessed. You should have been a news headline in tomorrow’s morning paper. I see that sort of ending in this kind of story all the time.” Lexie, Cyndi, and I all began to weep. God’s hand was on all us in that ER room, and we are so grateful to be alive. That night at our concert, a firefighter came up to me and said, “Did you know that a level 15 is death in this carbon monoxide poisoning scenario?” I told him that I was told that, but he said that I didn’t understand. “In order for a person to pass out, they would have to be at a level 13!” That is how close Cyndi and Lexie were to death! If Lexie had not woke up with nausea, we would all have died in our sleep of carbon monoxide poisoning. I praise the Lord today for so many people who were praying for my family and our group. This could have been a great tragedy in my life - to say the least! The book of James says “Your life is a vapor. Here today and gone tomorrow.” We do not know how many days we have left! Love those around you. Tell them what they mean to you now! Don’t wait! God gave the nine of us in the group a second chance, and we are so thankful to be alive. We had an awesome service on Sunday night. Many people were healed and set free at the altar. To God be the glory for the great things he has done! We love each and every one of you. Thank you again for your prayers. God is good all the time! Remember, read Psalm 91, “God protects his children and covers us”! Meditate on it!
I feel a blessing coming on,

Joseph T. Lee Finishes Vocals for Brand New Album
MECHANICSVILLE, Va. – Southern gospel soloist Joseph T. Lee has finished recording vocals for his brand new recording. The new album, titled Shield of Faith, was produced by Donna M. Beauvais. Vocals were recorded at Daywind Studios in Hendersonville, Tennessee. The album also features background vocals by Eddie and Jessica Harrison (formerly of Hope’s Call) on two cuts. Donna M. Beauvais said, “Joseph T. Lee is a truly precious man of God, and he was such a joy to work with in the studio. While recording, we had one of those GOD moments where someone had a prayer need come up and right in the middle of everything Joseph stopped to pray. The neat thing was, it was while recording a song about prayer when all of this happened. So, not only is he talented, but he truly lives what he sings.” Joseph T. Lee said, “Shield of Faith was inspired by Ephesians 6:10-20. The Bible says that we should put on the full armor of God. ‘…above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench the fiery darts of the wicked one’.” Shield of Faith features 12 songs. The album showcases new and classic songs – including “How Great Thou Art”, “He Touched Me”, “I Believe In a Hill Called Mount Calvary”, “I’ll Worship Only at the Feet of Jesus”, and more. The debut single from the album, “There’s a Miracle Coming”, was written by Sandy Bloemer. The new single will be released soon. More information on that will be forthcoming. The recording, entitled 25th Anniversary Edition, is a milestone recording for the group. The Imperials Welcome Scott Allen and Perry Jones to Group
Long-time Members Shannon Smith & Jeremie Hudson Resign to Pursue Church Ministry Opportunities NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Gospel Music Association Hall of Fame inductees The Imperials are proud to announce the addition of vocalists Scott Allen and Perry Jones to the group. Scott and Perry are replacing longstanding members Shannon Smith and Jeremie Hudson as lead and tenor vocalists. Both Shannon and Jeremie resigned from the group to pursue jobs in church ministry. Shannon Smith said, “While the guys in The Imperials didn’t want me to leave, they have been supportive of me following the Lord in this direction, and I’m really grateful to them for that. It’s been somewhat of a tough transition emotionally because the four of us have been like brothers over the past several years, and we’ve really come to love each other. I know that we’ll remain friends but we’re so used to being together all the time that this will take some getting used to for all of us! They have a great vision for the future and some great things are happening. I’m excited to see where the Lord leads them!” Shannon has taken a church in Miami, Florida. He and his family have already moved there and are excited about their future there. Jeremie Hudson has taken a position in a church in Alabama. “I have loved my time in The Imperials for these nine years! I thank GOD, Armond Morales, all our fans, pastors and all the friends I made. I also want to say a huge thank you, and I’ll miss you, to Jason, Ian and Shannon. We went through a lot together. I pray that we will remain close as we go in separate directions,” said Jeremie. “It was always my desire to see people’s lives changed. I can only hope and pray that I have lived up to the calling that GOD placed on my life while in The Imperials. God bless you all!” Scott Allen, the group’s new lead vocalist, has been filling in for Shannon since he announced his resignation last April. Allen spent time on the road with Mercy’s Mark before joining The Imperials. Perry Jones replaces Jeremie Hudson on the tenor spot. Perry Jones most recently sang with up and coming trio Brothers Forever. Jason Morales of The Imperials said, “While it is always a sad thing to see members of a group who are like family leave, Ian and I can’t help but have high expectations for the future of The Imperials. We are so excited to see where God is going to take this group as we enter a new chapter in The Imperials’ history.” More information on the group’s new members will be updated on the The Imperials’ website shortly. The Imperials’ latest single, “We’ve Got a Great Big Wonderful God”, recently became the group’s latest Top 20 hit. The song is the first Top 20 hit for the group from their latest critically-acclaimed and award-winning release, Back to the Roots. “We’ve Got a Great Big Wonderful God” came in at #16 for the upcoming August 2008 issue of the Singing News Top 80 chart. Sunday Edition Recording Tracks For Brand New Hymns and Worship Project MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – Sunday Edition, one of Nashville’s favorite groups, is in the beginning stages of recording a brand new album. Tracking is currently being done for the new project – which will be a piano-only hymns and worship album. Tracks for the new album, tentatively titled Sunday Worship, are being recorded by Bobby McAllister for Salem Sound in Salem, North Carolina. Sunday Worship is being produced by group members Chris Unthank and Deon Unthank. Chris Unthank said, “We are continually singing in many different kinds of churches. Some churches want worship music, while others love Southern Gospel. We are hoping to reach a broader audience by providing music that everyone loves – whether its worship music or hymns and Southern Gospel.” Sunday Worship will feature five hymns and five worship songs in a stripped-down, piano-only setting. The album will also include one full-band recording, “Love Song”, which was written by up and coming songwriter and worship leader Leah Lowrance. The track features the Turning Point Assembly of God worship band and was produced and engineered by Aaron Minick. “All of these songs were hand-picked by the group,” mentioned Deon Unthank. “These are songs that we love and worship with every week in our own home churches. We can’t wait to start utilizing these songs in our services and concerts.” Songs included on Sunday Worship are “Amazing Grace (My Chains Are Gone)”, “Blessed Assurance”, “Friend of God”, “I Never Shall Forget the Day”, “I Will Follow/Precious Lord”, “Indescribable”, “Love Song”, “Made Me Glad”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, “What a Day That Will Be”, and “Who Can Satisfy?”. Vocals for the new recording will be recorded at Square One Studio in Franklin, Tennessee in September. Sunday Worship has a tentative release date of late October or early November. Sunday Edition is currently looking for songs for their upcoming mainline release. That new album will begin production in early 2009. Sunday Edition has seen much success at Southern Gospel radio with their last single – “Naaman”. The song has charted on all the major industry charts. “Naaman”, which was penned by Paula Stefanovich, is the fourth single from Sunday Edition’s critically acclaimed release Absolutely Free.
